Foster a Dog
Fostering a dog is one of the most impactful ways to support the CARE Project. We are looking for dedicated foster homes who are willing to provide a safe and loving environment for dogs in need—often for an extended period—until they are ready for adoption.
Why Long-Term Foster Care is Important
One of the key aspects of fostering with us is that we seek long-term foster homes for our dogs. Returning a dog to a shelter after being in a home for a month or more can be extremely stressful and even damaging for them. It's essential that the dog feels secure and comfortable in a home environment until we find them a permanent home.
We ask for your commitment to fostering a dog until the right home is found for them—this ensures a smoother transition for the dog and reduces emotional stress.
Foster Care Requirements
When considering fostering, please provide us with the following details:
Your Living Situation
- Where you live (house or apartment, city).
- Do you have a garden or enclosed yard?
- If in an apartment, where will the dog primarily stay (e.g., living room, balcony)?
Family & Pets
- Do you have other animals? If so, what types and how many?
- Are there any children in the household, and what are their ages? (Some dogs may not be suitable for homes with young children.)
Foster Period
- How long are you able to foster the dog? We prefer long-term fostering, but we understand if the situation changes. Please let us know your preferred duration.
Special Circumstances
- If the dog is booked for adoption and is awaiting transport to another country, we need to know if you can accommodate the dog during this waiting period.
What to Expect
Fostering a dog, especially one that has been in a shelter, can come with challenges. Dogs who have not lived in a home environment may need time to adjust, and they may have behavioral quirks. It's important to be patient, understanding, and willing to provide the support the dog needs to thrive.
We appreciate your commitment and patience, and we are here to guide you every step of the way.
