Choco
Small (< 10 kg) size
femaleMixed Breed
~6 years old
Choco is a very sensitive dog who is slowly learning that humans can be safe.
She arrived at the shelter extremely fearful and shut down, clearly having experienced serious trauma. Choco does not allow physical contact yet — she is afraid of being touched, and raised hands still frighten her. According to the vets, this behavior strongly suggests she was physically abused in the past.
Choco has been diagnosed with leishmaniasis and will soon begin treatment. Her condition is manageable, but she needs a calm, stable environment during this time.
She is looking for a patient, understanding person — ideally an experienced foster or adopter — who will respect her boundaries and allow her to build trust at her own pace. Choco is food-motivated, gentle, and observant, and she shows progress when she is not pressured.
She is not ready for a busy home, but with time, safety, and the right human, Choco has the potential to learn trust and feel secure again.
